The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is advising motorists of an upcoming checkpoint in Lincoln County.
THP will hold a driver license roadside safety checkpoint at 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, on U.S. 231 at the 20.5-mile marker, according to a release from the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security and THP.
THP officials said recognizing the danger presented to the public by unqualified drivers, Troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who violate the driver license laws of Tennessee and take corrective actions for other violations observed. Troopers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol and drug impairment and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists, officials said. Troopers will also target those who operate a vehicle while unbelted.
THP officials notify the public when and where a roadblock will be held in compliance with a Tennessee Supreme Court ruling for all law enforcement.
