The South Central Tennessee Development District’s Long Term Care Ombudsman program advocates for rights of residents in nursing homes, assisted livings and homes for the aged in the south central 13-county district.
With over 60 long-term care facilities in this district, the program certainly is in need of volunteers to visit resident, listen to them, monitor conditions, report issues to the district ombudsman on a monthly basis, as well as educate staff, residents and visitors of the facility about the Ombudsman program and purpose.
The program is having a training April 9 and 10 for persons interested in becoming a new Ombudsman volunteer. Applicants must pass a background check and attend this two-day training in order to be a part of this rewarding program. The training will be held at the South Central Tennessee Development District Office at 101 Sam Watkins Blvd., Mt. Pleasant.
Those interested should contact the South Central office at 931-379-2926 or e mail email@example.com no later than April 5 so organizers may plan accordingly.
