A prolonged heavy rain event will continue tonight and well into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, Alabama.
The NWS said the rain event may result in flash flooding issues. Areas impacted include all of North Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee.
"In total, 2-4 inches are expected," the NWS said in a statement, adding the greatest amounts are expected across Northeast Alabama.
A few strong storms capable of gusty winds and small hail are possible Wednesday, the NWS said.
A flash flood watch remains in effect through 1 a.m. Thursday.
