Marsh elected Speaker Pro Tempore

State Rep. Pat Marsh (R-Shelbyville) has been elected by his peers to serve as Speaker Pro Tempore for the 112th Tennessee General Assembly.

As Speaker Pro Tempore, Marsh will conduct all duties and responsibilities in the absence of Tennessee Speaker of the House, Cameron Sexton. This includes presiding over the legislative chamber during session.

“It is an incredible honor to be unanimously selected by my Republican colleagues to serve as their Speaker Pro Tempore for the 112th Tennessee General Assembly,” said Rep. Marsh. “I appreciate the support and trust they have placed in me, and I am excited to work with our entire leadership team and our caucus to build upon our many significant achievements and keep this state moving forward the right way.”

Rep. Marsh was first elected to serve the citizens of Bedford and Lincoln Counties in 2009. The 2021 legislative session marks the small business owner’s twelfth year in our General Assembly. During his tenure, he has chaired several key House committees, most recently serving as chairman of the House Utilities Subcommittee during the 111th General Assembly.

“Pat Marsh is a tremendous addition to our leadership team in his new role as Speaker Pro Tempore,” said House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville). “I greatly respect and appreciate his service to his community and to our entire state; his institutional knowledge, experience and leadership style will benefit all of us.”

The 112th General Assembly officially begins at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021.
