The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Highway Safety Office will be conducting sobriety roadside checkpoints on Friday, Aug. 16, on the Huntsville Highway in the area between mile markers 0 and 1.
This checkpoint will be a Hands Across the Border event in conjunction with the State of Alabama.
Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills 16,000 and injures 305,000 others every year in the United States. Deputies will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment, authorities said.
Deputies will target those who operate a motor vehicle while impaired and take actions for other violations observed while ensure the protection of all motorists.
