The Fayetteville Regional Planning Commission has given its approval to the conceptual layout for the newest phase of Brookstone Commons between Morton Drive and Terry Avenue.
Brookstone Commons Phase II will consist of 28 lots, according to discussion during city planners’ most recent meeting. Plans submitted to planners for their consideration had been signed off on by the city’s utilities’ committee.
In other business, members of the planning commission approved a request from Speedway for the relocation of its entrance from the Huntsville Highway to the road that runs beside the property where the new gas and convenience store is being built.
Members of the commission also sent a new ordinance, which is expected to replace the city’s current floodplain development code, forward to the Fayetteville Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The proposed ordinance could result in some residents living in flood-prone areas being required to buy flood insurance.
A public hearing before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on the proposed ordinance will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the auditorium of the Fayetteville Municipal Building.
