A local man has been charged with aggravated robbery stemming from the Aug. 29 theft of a vehicle in southern Lincoln County.
According to Inv. Nathan Massey of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Kobie Lee Becker, 18, reportedly test drove a 2006 Suzuki Forenza, then allegedly stole the vehicle at knife point.
Becker fled to Illinois, and four hours later had a wreck in Massac County. Illinois State Police captured Becker upon learning that the vehicle was stolen and arrested him.
“An investigator interviewed him and ended up getting a confession,” said Massey.
In addition to aggravated robbery, Becker, of 12 Eastwood Spur, was charged with aggravated assault and theft of property.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” said Massey, adding that he believes that Becker may be responsible for some other thefts.
