A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Kelso man and injured a passenger early Monday morning last week.
While traveling southbound on Huntsville Highway near Hancock Road, a 2002 Jeep LRO, driven by Larry Woods, 42, traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a concrete wall and a tree, according to a report filed by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The vehicle overturned on the driver’s side, and Woods was ejected through the sunroof of the Jeep, the report indicated.
On the passenger side was Lindsey Holley-Blair, 32, also of Kelso. Blair was thrown to the driver’s side of the vehicle and injured.
State Trooper Jacob Davis investigated the accident and noted in his report that safety restraints may have made a difference.
Funeral services for Mr. Woods, who worked as a cook at Bill’s Café, were conducted Thursday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor David Baker officiating. Burial followed in Shady Grove Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home assisted the family.
