In partnership with the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Senior Center, the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and the IRS, certified tax preparers will be available at the Senior Center in Fayetteville starting on Saturday, Feb. 2, for free preparation and free E-filing of 2018 tax returns.

Volunteer Income Tax Preparation (VITA) is a nationwide program that runs from the end of January through the 15th of April. IRS certified volunteers prepare tax returns at no cost for individuals and families. This service also includes the preparation and filing of resident and non-resident tax returns for any state.

The Fayetteville-Lincoln County Senior Center is located at 908 W. Washington Street, in Fayetteville.

Dates are Feb. 2 through April 15 during the following times: Monday, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. During the month of February only, tax preparers will also be on hand on Tuesdays from 4 until 7 p.m.

Please bring a photo identification for both spouses (if filing joint), original Social Security cards or SSA-1099, proof of income (W2’s, 1099’s, unemployment, interest, etc.) and proof of expenses if claiming childcare, education, medical or other deductions. It is also helpful if you bring last year’s tax return and direct deposit information.
