The Elk Valley Times and the Fayetteville Weekly will host a forum for the upcoming election for Fayetteville city mayor and aldermen.

The forum is set for Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. in the Fayetteville Municipal Auditorium. Lucy Carter Williams and Chase Clemons will moderate the event.

Invitations to participate in the forum have been extended to the candidates, each of whom have accepted. Candidates will answer questions on a variety of issues, including community growth, government transparency and accountability, and their vision for the future of Fayetteville.

Residents of the city are encouraged to send in questions they’d like to see asked. Email your questions to lwilliams@elkvalleytimes.com or editor@fayettevilleweekly.com. You can also mail your questions or hand-deliver them to The Elk Valley Times, c/o Debate Questions, 418 Elk Ave. N., Fayetteville, 37334.

Residents are also invited to attend the forum, to be held in the auditorium of the Fayetteville Municipal Building on the east side of the city square.

Election Day will be Nov. 6, and early voting will take place Oct. 17 through Nov. 1. The deadline to register to vote in the election is Oct. 9.
