A vacant house on South Fishing Ford Road was totally destroyed by a huge fire early last Tuesday evening.
A passerby noticed the fully involved fire, which could be seen from a long distance, and called 911, to which Lincoln County Fire Rescue units responded about 5:20 p.m.
Doug Campbell, Lincoln County EMA director, stated that there will not be an investigation into the fire and that no one heard of anything suspicious about it.
Central Station, Petersburg and Boonshill Volunteer Fire/Rescue were on the scene for more than three hours.
“It was a good response,” said Campbell, referring to the firefighters who responded.
Lincoln County Units also responded to a large house fire in Frankewing at Giles County’s request for mutual aid early Saturday afternoon.
Campbell said they believe that the fire began when the large, two-story home was hit by lighting. He said he believed the family was home at the time but were able to get out of the home.
Boonshill, Dellrose and Blanche Fire/Rescue units were put on notice about 2:15 p.m., and responded to the call at 7590 Beech Hill Road. Campbell said Lincoln County provided about 12 pieces of equipment, including tankers and about 12 personnel. Firefighters were there about four hours.
