Honorees in The Times’ 2019 Lincoln County’s Finest Reader Choice Awards are recognized in a special section inside this week’s edition.
The section is published annually by the newspaper and recognizes some of the community’s greatest individuals and businesses, said Lucy Williams, editor and publisher, noting this is the 14th year for the reader survey.
Voted Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln County are Louis and Peggy Thompson of Fayetteville.
They join past years’ recipients of the honor, including Hilton and Christine Sullivan, who received the distinction in the survey’s first year, followed by Jack and June Towry, Jarrett and the late Bill Hancox, Jimmy and the late Fredna Ellis, Randy and the late Margaret Cunningham, the late John and Hilda Troy, Randy and Andrea Delap, Joel and Debbie Hastings, Bobby and Mary Jane Porter, Dexter and Cary Sullivan, David and Cyndi Bagley, Tim and Dora Barnes, and Wayne and Ruth Damron.
This year’s Finest got underway in February with readers nominating businesses and individuals in over 70 categories. The top two vote-getters in each area were then placed online for final balloting to occur.
“This is one of our most anticipated sections of the year,” said Williams. “Thousands of votes were cast, and as always, we appreciate everyone’s enthusiastic response — it just shows how much our community appreciates those folks and businesses who work so hard to make Fayetteville and Lincoln County an even better place in which to live and work.”
