In a cooperative effort between the City of Fayetteville, Farm to Table and Fayetteville Main Street, volunteers came together Monday to pot locally sourced flowers and other greenery in large planters around the square, just in time for the Slawburger Festival to be held on Saturday, April 20. Jennifer Snoddy's Future Farmers of America (FFA) students from Lincoln County High School also helped in potting the plants. The self-watering planters, purchased through the award of $2,400 by Farm to Table last year, feature water reservoirs which will be periodically filled by the city. In addition, the city also helped in purchasing the flowers and potting soil. Key persons involved in the beautification effort include Lenace Hyde Vaughn of the city's planning and codes department, and Emily Law and Martha Golden of Farm to Table.
