Lincoln County School System officials unveiled the future home of the new Blanche School Thursday – the property, acquired for $650,000, is located at 1507 Ardmore Hwy., a mile and a half east of the current school.
A contract on the property was signed earlier this month, and while a couple of engineering-related contingencies remain to be met, Director of Lincoln County Schools Bill Heath said last week that he doesn’t anticipate any issues.
Purchased from Neil and Patricia Hall, the site includes a house and outbuildings, which are expected to be razed to make way for the new Blanche campus.
When the final contingencies are met, officials are expected to take the deed to the property and then move forward with meetings, involving architects and system planners, to begin designing the building and its campus.
Officials will also be considering proposals from firms interested in providing such services as construction management and oversight of the Phase I Building Program, which includes the new K-8 Blanche School and a new STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) addition to Lincoln County High School. Brief outlines of those proposals were due in to the director of schools Tuesday.
