The City of Fayetteville’s Department of Recreation is asking all residents to share their opinions by completing a recreation needs assessment survey.

The survey can be found on the City of Fayetteville’s website,, under Recreation Department tab, on the Fayetteville Recreation Department Facebook page or can be obtained in person by visiting the Recreation Center at 1203 Winchester Highway.

“We would like everybody’s input on what their priorities are so we’ll know what the interest is,” said Chris Mitchell, director of recreation.

The needs assessment seeks to identify what programs are most sought by residents here — everything from arts and crafts to athletic programs, as well as programs for young children up through the age of senior citizens. The survey also asks respondents to rank the importance of each recreational activity and improvements that they feel are needed, covering everything from parks, picnic areas and walking facilities to athletic courts and fields and river access.

The assessment invites respondents to comment on specific facilities and/or programs they feel need to be included in the development of Fayetteville leisure facilities.
