A 21-year-old Ardmore man was hit and killed by a tractor trailer truck last Monday night when he stepped out of his disabled vehicle parked on the shoulder of I-65 in Marshall County.
The incident happened just before midnight near mile marker 34, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
The Ardmore man, Caymen Edwards, reportedly got out of his vehicle, a 2007 Chrysler Sebring, which had broken down on the interstate, when the driver of a 2018 Volvo tractor trailer, 31-year-old Elton Johnson of Mansura, La., crossed the white line, striking and killing Edwards, according to the THP.
The crash report noted that the driver of the tractor trailer left the scene and drove to the Love’s Truck Stop, located off of exit 46.
THP said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, and no criminal charges are expected.
Funeral services for Edwards, a native of Pulaski, were held Friday afternoon at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.
