Following the alleged purchase of a large amount of methamphetamine during a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Drug Task Force narcotics operation Friday morning, a high-speed chase ensued at speeds up to 100 miles per hour.
Sgt. Mike Pitts of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department said the pursuit lasted for about seven miles over several roads, beginning at Lincoln Road and running through parts of New Market and back to the state line.
At the end of the chase, James Quinton Pate of Huntsville, Ala., was taken into custody by officers with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. Madison County also executed a search warrant of Pate’s residence, according to authorities, who noted that the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Drug Task Force assisted. In all, more than two ounces of methamphetamine was confiscated, Pitts said.
Pate will be extradited to Lincoln County to face charges here.
