An Alabama woman, who has evaded arrest for more than a decade, was served multiple warrants last Tuesday for allegedly passing at least 50 worthless checks area wide.
According to a spokesperson for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, there are several more charges pending against Connie G. Hayes, 57, of 1300 Hurricane Road, New Market, Ala.
Some of the accounts on which Hayes wrote checks were closed, officials said.
So far, 14 warrants have been served for bad checks totaling about $1,600 to date, but officials expect that amount to go higher.
Hayes was held at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department for Giles County authorities on $6,000 bond. Sgt. Troy Wells was the arresting officer.
