Fayetteville Main Street has welcomed Lauren Honea as its executive director.
This hire is a result of an extensive search and interview process.
“While we were eager to fill the position, we knew we had a grave sense of responsibility to do our due diligence and find the perfect person for the job,” said Catherine Bartlett, president of Fayetteville Main Street, late Monday.
Mrs. Honea brings with her a wealth of professionalism, managerial knowledge and extreme passion for downtown Fayetteville, Bartlett said, noting that she is the wife of Fayetteville native, local attorney W. Garrett Honea.
Mrs. Honea tells us she developed a love for our downtown area many years ago after her first visit during the Host of Christmas Past -- “I vowed at that time that if I ever had the chance to help promote Fayetteville, help it prosper, and make others fall in love with this town the way I did, that I would,” she said.
Mrs. Honea will begin her duties as executive director on March 1. She says she is eager to jump in and get started.
“My goal is to continue to beautify the town and provide more opportunities for people to visit and having more merchant inclusion.”
Mrs. Honea is originally from a small town in South Carolina. She graduated from Winthrop University in 2008 with a degree in Integrated Marketing and Communications.
She wed attorney W. Garrett Honea in 2012, and the couple moved to Fayetteville in 2017 for Honea to open his law practice. They have two daughters, Bonnie Kate, who just turned 5 years old, and Mary Alice, who was born just this past January.
