Fayetteville Public Utilities (FPU) drive-thru hours returned to normal on Monday, May 4, ahead of a plan to reopen lobbies on Monday, June 1, unless guidelines to reopen change. Social distancing measures will be in place. “Our top priority is making sure our customers and employees are safe,” said FPU CEO/General Manager Britt Dye. “We are taking every precaution to keep from furthering the spread of COVID-19 while being able to start operating a little closer to normal. We appreciate your patience during this pandemic.”
FPU will have decals on the floors reminding customers to stay 6 feet apart. Customer service representatives will have precautions in place when working with customers on a one-on-one basis. Customers should continue to follow all Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for hand washing, coughing and sneezing into your elbow and staying at home when feeling ill.
Outside employees such as line workers, cable/internet installers and gas, water and maintenance crews will continue to practice social distancing and only enter homes during an emergency situation until further notice.
“As of right now we are hoping to restart cable and internet installations on June 1,” said Dye. “Even then we plan to have precautions in place, such as the number of people in the home during the installation. We want to be sure to protect our employees and customers as much as we can.”
FPU customers can continue to manage their accounts and ask questions by calling FPU at 931-433-1522 or at the drive-thru, as well as tracking usage and paying bills through the SmartHub app or SmartHub online and making payments over the phone through Secure Pay at 1-844-201-7200.
