The Fayetteville Tigers advanced to the semifinals of the TSSAA playoffs with a 38-29 win over neighboring Moore County. An 18 point explosion in the second quarter gave the Tigers enough cushion to hold on in the second half for the win.
KJ Johnson dashed 24 yards to paydirt with six minutes left in the game to give Fayetteville an 11 point cushion but Moore County would come storming back with a 35 yard touchdown strike through the air with three minutes to go, cutting the deficit to three with a two point conversion, 32-29.
Try Allen put the game on ice for the Tigers with a minute to go when he ran 31 yards for the touchdown. The two point conversion failed, for the 38-29 final.
Fayetteville will travel to Lake County, 42-8 winners over Carroll County, November 27 for a shot at going to the state championship game.
