Mayor Bill Newman has called a special meeting of the Lincoln County Legislative Body for 12 noon tomorrow -- it will be the commission's first meeting to be held electronically.
The decision comes in the wake of Gov. Bill Lee's Executive Order 16, issued late last week, authorizing all governing bodies to meet electronically in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. That, coupled with the governor's Executive Order 17, which prohibits social gatherings of 10 or more people, means it is advisable for governing bodies to start meeting electronically. The State Comptroller's office has also issued guidance to officials for complying with the order.
Since live access to the meeting could not be reasonably provided, Newman wrote in a public notice to The Times today, tomorrow's special meeting will be conducted in the form of a Webex meeting. An audio recording of this meeting will be available to the public by being posted by Friday, March 27, on Lincoln County's website at www.lincolncountytngov.com under the "meetings" tab.
The Times will be present in the mayor's office to watch and listen as the meeting takes place.
Four items are on the agenda for the special called meeting -- those items are listed in the mayor's public notice. The notice, which will also appear in The Times' next print and electronic editions, follows:
