Black Ice Expected Across the Tennessee Valley Tonight into Tuesday Morning

Message from Doug Campbell, Lincoln County EMA Director/Fire Chief

The widespread mix of rain and snow will come to an end later this afternoon into this evening. Continued cloud cover and light winds will not allow for much drying on area roadways overnight.

Temperatures will drop below freezing across the entire area around

9 p.m. and will stay below freezing until 9-10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Overnight lows will drop down into the low to mid 20s. These temperatures will freeze any residual moisture on area roadways.

Please use extra caution while traveling later this evening through Tuesday morning and watch for areas of black ice, especially on elevated roadways, bridges, overpasses, and shady areas.

Temperatures will warm quickly Tuesday morning with sunny conditions and will climb above the freezing mark around 9-10 AM.
