Volunteer advocates

The Lincoln County Juvenile Court needs more CASA volunteers. Children need someone who will speak up for them in the court system. You can be that person for a child.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate, and this program gives you the opportunity to work with all parties involved to make sure the judge stays well informed about a child’s life and well-being.

“I am a CASA because I believe every child has the right to grow up in a safe environment,” said Felicia Bivens, a Lincoln County CASA volunteer. “When a family is involved in the court system, it is generally difficult for everyone, but as a CASA, I take extra care to make sure the needs of the children are given the greatest possible consideration.

“The children of our community deserve to have their needs represented and their voices heard,” she added. “CASAs provide them that voice in the courtroom. I am proud to be a CASA.”

The next CASA training begins in November. To learn more about this volunteer opportunity, call Bonnie Bailey at 931-438-3233.
