Trail of Tears

Reenactors participate in the 14th Annual Debbie Shattuck Capino Trail of Tears Memorial Walk Saturday morning. The Bell’s Route, which came through Fayetteville, was conducted by Lt. Edward Deas and John A. Bell, was one of 17 Cherokee removal. On Oct. 11, 1838, the Bell detachment left Fort Cass in Charles, Tenn., on Oct. 11, 1838.
