TCAT in Lincoln County offers exciting new courses

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Lincoln County, an extension of TCAT Shelbyville, will be offering some new courses beginning in January 2021. New supplemental courses for the community for the Spring trimester are Real Estate Basics and Computer Skills for Life. Real Estate Basics is a course for those who are interested in the business of real estate. It is an exploratory course, for people before they invest money in the whole licensing process or for those who are generally interested in the field. Also, this course would be helpful for those who have gotten their license, but just starting out and need some practical information not covered in the Real Estate License prep class. It will be offered on Monday evenings from 5:00-6:30. Computer skills for life is the type of course many citizens say they need. In this class, participants will learn basic computing skills and practical applications and features.  Participants can bring their own questions to the course as well and instruction can be individualized. This is a hands-on and participatory class for folks who can use a computer but want to get more out of it. We will de-mystify concepts that will make people more confident in managing their computing devices and teach some easy and handy things they may not know exist. It will be available on Monday evenings, from 4:00-6:00. The CO.STARTERS small business/entrepreneur class will be available on Tuesday evenings from 5:00-8:00. Whether you have an idea or a dream of your own business or you have already started one, this class is for you. It is structured, interactive, and will leave you with real plans and a real professional network. CO.STARTERS is a nationwide program. It is still currently under a grant program and very inexpensive because of that fact. Some existing programs in Lincoln County will also continue. Those are Industrial Maintenance Automation and the Pre-nursing classes of Anatomy & Physiology and Math for Meds, both of which must be completed before applying for the licensed nursing program. There are some great opportunities for future careers, or improved knowledge and skills happening in Lincoln County. The college is located in the Lincoln Central Academy building on the north side at 204 Union St. Fayetteville, TN.  For more information and questions, contact Dr. Lori Shotts at 931-433-2235 or
