Local 4-H’ers  heading to state

Lincoln County 4-H’ers competed in the Central Region Hippology and Horse Bowl contests held recently at Cumberland University in Lebanon. Ten Lincoln County 4-H’ers competed in the Central Region Hippology and Horse Bowl contests, held recently at Cumberland University in Lebanon.

Their placings resulted in the Senior and Junior High teams both qualifying to compete at the state competition on Feb. 28-29 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Hippology and Horse Bowl are competitions that test the horse knowledge of 4-H’ers in fourth through 12th grades. They are given a written exam and identification slides and must judge two horse show classes. Scores are tabulated and awards are given for both high-scoring individuals and teams.

Awards received at this year’s Central Region competition include, Junior High Division Team, first place, Brooke Biles, Carrie Brigham, Brianna May, KayLee Sells; Senior Division Team, third place, Megan Harris, Shelby Oliver, Sabrina Rascoe, Chayton Stephens and Tahlia Stephens;

Individual Awards, Carrie Brigham, first place, Junior High; Brooke Biles, third place, Junior High; Megan Harris, sixth place, Senior; and Chayton Stephens, seventh place, Senior.
