Lincoln High School receives first Shining Stars Award

LCS Superintendent Dr. Bill Heath presented the Lincoln County High School Robotics Team #547 with the first LCS Shining Stars Award at a recent gathering of the team. Dr. Heath stated, “The LCS Shining Stars Award is recognition to student groups who have represented the spirit of Lincoln County Schools in such a way that all the LCS Family is proud of their accomplishments.” In the recent BEST Robotics Finals 2020 competition the team took 4th place overall, including a first place award in BEST Critical Design Review and second in CAD Drawings. These accomplishments came even though the team had many practices canceled or changed due to COVID-19.

While preparing for the competition, many of the team members worked on their own or without their coach during the practice times because of quarantines. “These young folks make us all proud to be a part of the LCS family” as stated by Dr. Heath.

The group used the $1,000 award to purchase tools to benefit the program.
