The Lincoln County High School Show Choir recently competed at the Music in the Parks competition in Atlanta, Ga., earning top honors.
The group received a Superior rating and was awarded first place in the show choir division. The show choir also won first place in the overall high school choir division.
This is the second year in a row that the group has received these honors.
Carly Little also won the most outstanding high school vocalist award, and Nathan Posey won the most outstanding high school accompanist award.
The group performed selections from the movie, “The Greatest Showman”. Songs included in the show were “The Greatest Show”, “This Is Me”, “From Now On”, “Never Enough” and “Come Alive”. Mason Buck, Carly Little, Lexie Greer, Hannah Carley and Joseph Smith all performed solos within these selections.
“When I started at LCHS three years ago, I couldn’t get anyone to sing by themselves, let alone perform a solo,” said Barry Petty, director of the group. “Now, when there is a solo, they all jump at the opportunity.”
The members of the group are seniors Gabby Barnett, Joseph Gore, Tyler O’Tinger, Joseph Smith and Shiann Wright; juniors Landon Bradford, Mason Buck, Hannah Carley, Nate Carley, Maesyn Forsyth, West Jenkins, Carly Little and Austin Smith; and sophomores Rachel Boyett, Regan Gomez, Lexie Greer, Kalista Holdmeyer, Ashlynn Moose and Taylor Slayton.
The group is accompanied by Barry Petty on piano, Nathan Posey on guitar and Peyton Tyler on drums. The group is directed by Mr. Petty and choreographed by Will Erwin.
