The Lincoln County FCE members are continuing our fundraising efforts for this year. On Friday, March 20, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., in the Ralph Hastings Building, the FCE will be holding our annual Casserole and More Sale.
Every year, this event gets more and more popular with Lincoln County residents, and the FCE is hoping this trend continues.
Sadly, our annual Sweetheart Cake Bake in February was not as successful as it has been in past years. The cause? Probably the weather. It was horrendous, and our ladies couldn’t get out into the county to find sponsors. Unfortunately, the graduating seniors will be the ones feeling the consequences as we raised roughly, $1,200, enough to cover two $500 scholarships. Rest assured, the FCE will be out in force next year to collect sponsors and rebuild our senior scholarship program. A complete list thanking this year’s sponsors will be published in a future issue of The Elk Valley Times.
Luckily, you’ll have another chance to eat food made by some of Lincoln County’s best cooks. We’re hoping the fabulous residents of Lincoln County will come in droves for the Casserole and More Sale. Again this year, we will have everything you’ll need to create anything from snacks to a full meal.
The best cooks in the county will be whipping up tasty soups, healthy salads, dips, entrees, side dishes, and desserts. All food items will be in easy, throw-away containers and will include a list of ingredients as well as recipes; just in case you buy something you absolutely must eat again.
All proceeds from the Casserole and More Sale will benefit students needing financial help to attend 4-H camp this summer. Every year the FCE donates money for full, or partial, scholarships so that as many students as possible get to attend 4-H camp at least once.
With the success of last year’s sale, we were able to donate enough money to cover five students. Applications for this financial assistance can be obtained through the 4-H Extension Agent that comes to your student’s school or from the Extension Office directly, in the Ralph Hastings Building.
If you have any questions, or even a request for a specific casserole, please contact Nancy Rutledge, FCE County Council president, at (931) 937-7125, or Ethel Bonner, UT/FCE Extension agent, at (931) 433-1582.
Thank you, Lincoln County, for your continued support of the FCE and its charitable endeavors. We look forward to seeing you on Friday, March 20!
