The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Shelbyville was once again recognized for excellence during the Tennessee Board of Regents Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition (SOAR) Awards.
The SOAR awards were established to recognize and honor the outstanding students, faculty and staff members at its colleges, as well as the major accomplishments of the colleges.
Steve Mallard, Master Instructor II for the Information Technology and Infrastructure Management program, is a Technical College Faculty Member of the Year finalist representing the Middle Tennessee region. Mallard has been employed at TCAT Shelbyville for 25 years and has been recognized on a state and national level for his work in the field of Information Technology.
Leslie Martin, Coordinator of Student Services, is a Technical College Staff Member of the Year finalist representing the Middle Tennessee region. Martin has been employed at TCAT Shelbyville for five years and has been instrumental is implementing several statewide student success initiatives.
Benjamin Jayne, student in the Industrial Maintenance Automation program at the main campus, is a Technical College Student of the Year finalist representing the Middle Tennessee region. Jayne is the college’s Student Government Vice-President and is scheduled to graduate this spring.
