Graduation exercises will get underway this week as the community’s Classes of 2019 prepare for a new chapter in each of their lives.
Both Lincoln County High School and Fayetteville High School’s graduation ceremonies are planned for Friday evening, May 17. Graduation at Riverside Christian Academy will be held Thursday, May 23. Local homeschool graduations will be held on Saturday, May 18.
The Classes of 2019 will be presented in a special section by The Times’ May 29th edition.
Graduation at Fayetteville High School will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at FHS. Fayetteville Mayor Michael Whisenant will be the guest speaker.
Hannah Marie Johnston is the class valedictorian, and Sloan Michael Higgins is salutatorian.
A baccalaureate service was held at FHS on Monday evening, organized by local clergy. Senior Academic Awards ceremony was planned for Tuesday evening of this week, also at FHS.
Graduation exercises at Lincoln County High School will be held Friday, May 17, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Meadows-Thompson Stadium. The day’s activities will begin with breakfast and practice at 8 a.m. and end with Project Graduation following commencement.
Valedictorian is Elizabeth Barnes, and the salutatorian is Jil Patel. Both will deliver speeches. With Barry Petty as the pianist for the processional, Rylee Marie Campbell will lead the moment of silence and Pledge of Allegiance. The LCHS Chorus will perform, followed by a welcome by Principal Garth Garris and an address by Dr. Bill Heath, director of schools. Cooper Ryan Moran, student body president, and Denali Aracely Quinonez Turcios, senior class president will also address guests. Jonathon Dedrick Carpenter, senior class representative, will lead the turning of the tassel.
Area churches held baccalaureate on Sunday in the LCHS gymnasium.
Riverside Christian Academy
Riverside Christian Academy's baccalaureate is Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at Washington Street Church of Christ. Travis Creasy, RCA campus minister, will be the guest speaker.
Commencement will be held Thursday, May 23, at 7 p.m. Speaker will be Katie Mills Whisenant, RCA's Class of 2009 valedictorian.
RCA's Senior Recognition Program will be held this Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m.
Valedictorian of this year's class is Madeline Padgett. Salutatorian is Andy Jones.
Graduation for the Chestnut Ridge Academy will be held Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at Washington Street Church of Christ.
And graduation for the Riverside Homeschool Umbrella Program will also be held Saturday, May 18. That ceremony will get underway at 2 p.m. at Riverside Christian Academy.
