A Walk to Remember will replace the annual hospice butterfly release

Lincoln Medical Home Health and Hospice recently announced plans have been made for a new event to replace the 5th Annual Celebration of Life Butterfly Release that was canceled in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lincoln Hospice will hold a new event, Celebration of Life: A Walk to Remember, on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Stonebridge Park form 6:30-8:00 p.m. The Walk to Remember will replace the previously planned butterfly release, which usually draws large crowds. The new event will feature lighted memorial luminaries placed along the pathways at Stonebridge Park. Live music will be played throughout the event and names will read aloud several times throughout the evening.

The annual Celebration of Life event is a dual-purpose project to help the families of Lincoln Hospice patients grieve their loved ones who have passed as well as serve as a fundraiser for the Hospice Agency. Although Medicare and other insurance benefits pay for hospice care, some supplies and medication costs exceed those payments. This annual fundraiser paired with generous community donations, allows Lincoln Hospice to provide care to all eligible patients, purchase needed supplies, and fund the bereavement program.

Memorial luminaries, to line the walkways, will be sold for $10, as well as, event T-shirts starting at $15. More information on the event can be found at www.lincolnhealthsystem.com/butterfly/ or by calling Lincoln Medical Home Health and Hospice at 931-433-8088.
