Music in the Park

The annual Music in the Park concert series kicks off this week, as Strangers with Friends opens the concert series with a performance on Thursday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m.

Music in the Park concerts are planned throughout the summer at Stone Bridge Memorial Park.

The family-friendly summer concert series, hosted by the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau, in conjunction with the City of Fayetteville and its Parks and Recreation Department, draws crowds who bring their blankets and chairs to enjoy a night of free entertainment, courtesy of area bands.

Carolyn Denton, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, invites residents to come out and enjoy the free concerts at the park, encouraging folks to bring their chairs and blankets for an evening of great music and fellowship for all ages. Children are invited to bring a beach ball or hula hoops for fun on the grass while parents enjoy listening to the music and visiting with friends.

In celebration of the concert series, official “I’m a Music in the Park Fan” hand fans will be given away each night of the series.

“We have a limited number each night, and we expect them to go fast,” Denton said, encouraging folks to arrive early to get their fan, as well as purchase a Music in the Park t-shirt, while supplies last.

Concessions will be available for each concert, with Floyd’s Farm Food Truck and Kona Ice serving as the official food vendors for the concert series this summer. C&R Buggy Tours will also be on hand to offer rides to visitors during some of the concerts.

“It’s such a beautiful park,” Denton said. “We are looking forward to having folks come down and enjoy the park and the music.”

Event organizers extend thanks to those who provide invaluable assistance for the concert series – City of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation staff, First Class Printing, Hall’s Signs, The Elk Valley Times, WEKR & WYTM, Fayetteville Public Utilities Channel 6, the Exchange and Promotional Concepts.

On tap for the remainder of the summer are Madison Community Band at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4; Travelin’ Kind at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 13; Highway 64 at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 20; Stillwater Bluegrass at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 27; AC Junction at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 11; Simply Fabulous at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 18; and The Boxelders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25.
