The Lincoln County High School Choirs will present their Winter Concert on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. in the LCHS auditorium.
Featured on the program will be the LCHS Beginning Choirs and the Concert Choir, as well as the award-winning Show Choir. In addition, the crowning of Mr. and Miss LCHS will take place during the program.
The LCHS Beginning Choir is made up of approximately 38 students in grades ninth through 12th. They will be performing three selections, including “Sing We Now of Christmas”, “Breath of Winter” and “A Jolly, Jingling Carol Medley”.
The Concert Choir is made up of 40 students in grades 10 through 12 who have previous choir experience. They will be performing six selections, including holiday favorites “Jingle Bells” and “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” but with a jazzy twist. Other selections include “Coventry Carol”, “In the Stillness of Winter”, “A Bit of Holiday Cheer” and “Carol of the Bells”.
The coronation of Mr. and Miss LCHS will take place after the Concert Choir performance.
The closing performance will be from the LCHS Show Choir. This group features 20 students in grades ninth through 12th who were selected to be members of this singing and dancing group. They will be accompanied by a three-member combo consisting of Nathan Posey on bass, Peyton Tyler on drums and Barry Petty on piano.
The LCHS Show Choir has been awarded first place in the Music in the Parks Competition in Atlanta, Ga., for the past two years. This year’s group will be performing “Sleigh Ride”, “Silver Bells” and “The Christmas Song”, all arranged by Mark Hayes, as well as “When I Hear the Sounds of Christmas” by Andy Beck and “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, arrangement by Brymer.
All three choirs are directed by Barry Petty who is in his fourth year as director of choirs at Lincoln County High School. Brandon Niska will be the accompanist for the Concert Choir.
There is no charge to attend the concert which is open to the public.
