Blanche Freedom Festival promises fun on the Fourth

A scene from last year's Blanche Freedom Festival.

The annual Blanche Community Freedom Festival will get underway at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.

To be held at Blanche School, 1649 Ardmore Hwy., Taft, the festival will include a variety of activities and games, including a foam pit, bingo, train rides, a rock wall, lazer tag, and an obstacle course.

Guest speakers will present a program at 6:30 p.m., with Clay Dyer, an avid fisherman and inspirational coach, as the keynote presenter. There will also be live music, featuring Dave Pittman, an Arkansas native whose soulful vocals were introduced to millions during his appearance on American Idol’s ninth season. His inspiring journey with Tourette syndrome also resonated with the country’s heart.

The festival will culminate after dark in a fireworks display.

Folks are invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the family-friendly festival. Admission is free, and there will be a grand prize giveaway.

In addition, Clothe Our Kids will have a booth and accept new or slightly used kids clothing. Also needed are shoes, coats, diapers, underwear, and socks.
