A Military Grave Marker Dedication for Birt Moses Buchanan, World War I African American Soldier, will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1:30 p.m., at the Warrior Exhibit at the Fayetteville Recreation Center. Kings Mountain Messenger Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring the dedication. For more information about the event, call 931-433-2626. 

The ceremony had originally been scheduled for 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery on William Battle Blvd., Fayetteville, but the location changed as a result of the expected weather conditions.

Reception Honoring H.R. Lovell, artist of "The Veteran", the painting of Birt Moses Buchanan, will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1:30 p.m. at The Warrior Exhibit, located inside the Fayetteville Recreation Center. H.R. Lovell, the former Tennessee Artist in Residence, will display his painting "The Veteran". A presentation on the World War I experience of the African American soldier and specifics of the military service of Birt Moses Buchanan will be shared. For more information, call 931-433-2626.
