Volunteers and sponsors are being sought for next year’s Senior Olympic Games to be held in Fayetteville.
“We are in the process of finalizing the locations that will be used to hold the Senior Games,” said Samantha Freeman, a member of the planning committee, said after a recent meeting, attended by other committee members Chris Mitchell, Katie Stovall and Mary Ann Meyer-Schuck. “At this time, we have the Lincoln County Fairgrounds, the Recreation Center and the Senior Center confirmed as locations.”
According to Freeman, the committee is still planning the events that will be available for seniors – “Participants must be at least 50 years young,” she noted.
“We are now looking for volunteers to help serve on the committee and to help with the different planning aspects of such a big event,” Freeman said.
If you would like to volunteer or help sponsor the Lincoln County Senior Olympics, please contact any of the committee members. The next meeting for the committee will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. at the Fayetteville- Lincoln County Senior Center, located at 908 Washington St. W.
“The goal of the Lincoln County Senior Olympics is to help promote an active lifestyle,” said Freeman.
