Local officials were on hand at the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center Thursday to accept a $9,614 grant from Tyson Foods, presented to the Flintville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

“Lincoln County has been a great supporter of our industry, from one end of the county to the other,” said Tom McCue of Tyson Foods out of Shelbyville, who made the presentation last week. “We appreciate everything these volunteers do – they were especially helpful in the response effort after the HPAI outbreak here in March.”

The grant will assist Flintville Volunteer Fire and Rescue in building its rapid river response team, said Crethton Caldwell, captain of the unit, noting that the FLC Senior Citizens Center, a 501(c)3 organization, served as the conduit for the application and award of the grant.
