Two local men were arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies last week following a month-long investigation into area burglaries.
Sheriff Murray Blackwelder said that the multiple burglaries occurred at the same residence located on the south side of the county. The burglaries involved the theft of personal belongings, furniture, household items and antique glassware.
“We recovered part of the property, but we’re still trying to recover some of the other items,” Blackwelder said. “The investigation continues as to whether anyone else is involved in it.”
Charged were Anthony Ray Metcalf, Jr., 33, of 207 Sunset Drive, and Jeremy William Birdsong, 22, of 6 Short Creek Road, Dellrose. Metcalf was charged with aggravated criminal trespassing, theft of property and aggravated burglary. He was held on $15,000 bond.
Birdsong was charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated criminal trespassing and theft of property.
He was held at the jail on $30,000 bond.
