Turkey Trot 5K, 10K Thanksgiving weekend

Posted on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 3:41 pm

Turkey Trot, a 5K and 10K Walk or Run at Cotton Mill Preserve, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Cotton Mill Preserve will be open Nov. 27-29 from 7 a.m. until 12 noon for the public as an outlet for outdoor hiking, walking or running the trails and for those who would like to familiarize themselves with the trails and prepare themselves to set a personal time for Saturday’s race day.

The clock starts at 9 a.m. for both the 5K and 10 K walk.

There is no fee to hike, walk or run the trails Wednesday through Friday of that week.

Prior to the race, the registration fee is $20, and on the day of registration the cost is $25. Make checks payable to Lincoln County Tennis, 45 Boulder Trail, Fayetteville, TN 37334. The pre-registration cost includes a T-shirt.

Pre-register online at active.com the day of the event or mail in the registration form found on Active.com. T-shirts will only be available to those who pre-register. The race will be held rain or shine; there will be no refunds. Online registration and race information is available at www.runlincolncounty.com.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Lincoln County Tennis program.

Thanks to Run Lincoln County, there will be a running time clock, but this is only for the participants’ benefit and not for an awards ceremony. The reward and time of the participant’s run/walk is for the runner’s self-satisfaction.

Cotton Mill Preserve is private land, so everyone is requested to pack out what they pack in. There will be restroom facilities (porta-potties) on site. Please be respectful and keep property and facilities clean. If the trails are used and treated with respect, they may be open to the public more often.

No T-shirts will be available for sale on the day of the event. This Turkey Trot is a no-frills, no awards event, though there may be some giveaways.

Cotton Mill Preserve is located at 240 Shelbyville Highway.
