For most people, the arrival of spring means it’s time to clean.
One of the biggest challenges of spring cleaning is getting rid of the clutter you don’t need. A good rule of thumb is if you haven’t worn it, used it or played with it in a year, it is time to donate it to Goodwill.
“Our Goodwill relies on donations of clothing and other household items to support our mission of providing employment and training opportunities to people who have trouble finding and keeping jobs,” said Jamie Berry with Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee.
“This year, we have already assisted a record number of people. Because of this, we need your donations now more than ever.
“Ninety-eight percent of our revenue comes from the sale of donated items,” she explained. “So when you donate that book or blouse you no longer want, you are helping people in our community.”
Don’t forget, your donations are 100 percent tax deductible, so make sure you keep your donation receipt for your tax records.
There are more than 70 Donation Express Centers located across Middle and West Tennessee. The local Goodwill Store is located in the River Oaks Shopping Center on the Huntsville Highway.
