Fayetteville High School’s Tiger football season came to an end with a three-hour road trip in Huntingdon. FHS went down to the number two state ranked Mustangs, 64-14.
The Tigers finished their regular season at 6-4 and the fourth seed in Region 5-1A headed to the playoffs. The previous Friday night’s loss to Franklin Christian was costly – that defeat set FHS up against Huntingdon instead of Wayne County. The Mustangs finished as the one seed in Region 6-1A with a 10-0 record.
In other Region 5-1A playoff action, it was Cornersville, 51, Hollow Rock-Bruceton, 8; Moore County, 34, Collinwood, 7; and Franklin Grace, 64, Wayne County, 24.
“You can’t make the mistakes we made early against a team like Huntingdon,” Coach Alvin Palmer said. “They’re a team that is going to make you pay. We were down 15-0 before we ever got across the 50 yard line, and it was self-inflected.”
