Tigers fall to Eagles in district match-up

Fayetteville High School’s Tigers picked up their second District 9-A loss last week.

FHS went down on the road to Eagleville, 76-58.

Currently in district action, Middle Tennessee Christian, Huntland and Cascade are 4-1. Fayetteville is 3-2; Eagleville, 2-2; Forrest, 1-3; Moore County, 1-4; and Community is 0-5.

The Tigers got off to a fast start, up 15-10 at the end of the first quarter against the Eagles. James Keith added 8 points in the frame.

But, in the second period, the Eagles nailed three from the arch. With 5:43 in the quarter, Eagleville took their first lead of the game, up 18-17. At the 3:10 mark, Michael Parks hit a 3-pointer, regaining the lead for the Tigers, 25-22. At the break, FHS was up 30-28.

Into the second half, the Tigers couldn’t get the defensive stops. The Eagles owned the third frame, 20-8. FHS trailed 48-38 at the end of three.

Fayetteville added 20 points in the fourth, but Eagleville’s scoring spree continued, picking up 28 points for the win.

James Keith led for FHS with 19. Nicholas Hopkins had 17; Michael Parks, 7; Isaiah Thompson, 6; Andrew Lawson, 4; Aaron Parks and Dorian Thompson had 2.

The Tigers hit 16 shots from the paint and five from the arch with Hopkins hitting 3 while Michael Parks and Aaron Parks had 1 each. From the line, FHS was 11 of 15.

For their next action, the Tigers play in the Richland Classic Dec. 28 starting at 3:30 p.m. On Dec. 29, the boys play at 6:30 p.m.
