Tigers expected to compete

With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, the 2018 Fayetteville High School Tiger baseball season looks bright.

FHS has 10 players returning from last season’s third place district tournament finish — most all were contributors.

This year, Fayetteville is a member of a revised District 8-A, along with Huntland, Moore County, Cascade, Cornersville and Eagleville.

The Tigers are led by fourth year Coach Jay McElyea. He is assisted again by Coach Ron McElyea. New to the staff is assistant Tony Thomas.

“We’ve got the same district alignment as basketball,” Coach McElyea said. “It’s balanced, so we’re going to have to be ready to play every night.”

Taking the field for the Fayetteville High School Tiger baseball team this spring are (front, from left) Romello Twitty, Zorion Pullen, Andy Locker, Louis Saucedo, Mac O’Connor, Jonathan Cannon, Garrett Gardner, Drake McElyea, (rear) Cordell Jones, Jeffrie Pettie, Lex Marsh, Ernie Roles, Josh Thomas, Trey Allen and Gerry Wayne Da-vis.
