Tiger soccer team in chase for title

Posted on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 9:23 am

With nine starters returning from last year, Fayetteville High School’s soccer team looks to better their previous 9-5-0 (3-1 in district) record.

Add in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) expanding soccer into three classifications, A, AA, AAA this year, and the Tigers’ playing field is more equal, competing against schools with similar enrollments. Fayetteville is in the new Region 3, District 6, with Community, Forrest and Cascade.

The Tigers are led for the fourth year by Coach Bret Boylan and Assistant Al Palacio. Joining the coaching staff this year is assistant coach Lucca Shimanuki. A former goalkeeper and graduate of Martin Methodist, Coach Shimanuki will be working primarily with the goalkeepers on their position.
