Lincoln County Boy Scout Troop 489 plans to honor local emergency responders with a special dinner in April, and Scouts are asking for the community’s support for their service project.
The Emergency Responders Celebratory Dinner is planned for April 21 from 6 until 8 p.m. for local police, firefighters and first responders.
“We’ve reached out to several local leaders who enthusiastically endorse the idea and are moving to the next phase of the project: reaching out to potential sponsors to help us stage off a dinner worthy of those being celebrated,” said Truman J. Carroll, Scoutmaster.
“Our goal is to serve up to 100 emergency responders (and their plus one) at no cost to them a hero’s dinner comprised of beef brisket, butter pecan broccoli, hassle-back potatoes along with appetizers and desserts at The Lodge at Gunter Hollow,” Carroll said.
“To do this right, we will need local assistance and local support to show these heroes just how much we all appreciate them,” Carroll added.
Local businesses, individuals and organizations interested in helping to support the effort are encouraged to contact Carroll at 256-529-8612 or Assistant Scoutmaster Joshua Atchley at 256-457-9370 to find out how they can help.
