The First Annual Smokin’ at Stone Bridge BBQ Cook Off is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, at Stone Bridge Park in Fayetteville.
The event is partnered with the Tennessee BBQ Association and the Fayetteville Department of Recreation.
Entry is limited to the first 30 to 40 teams and is $75 for non-members and that includes a one-year membership to the TBA. The fee for paid TBA members is $50. Entry forms are available at www.tbabbq.com.
“We’ll have three categories,” said organizer Troy “Fraz” Frassrand. “Included are ribeye steak, chicken and ribs. Judges will score on appearance, taste and tenderness.
“The TBA is a new organization that was started for grillers to compete and not have the tremendous expense of many competitions,” Fraz said. “Some get into thousands of dollars. We wanted to form an affordable brotherhood of people that enjoy the grill.
“Teams will come in on Friday and the competition lights up Saturday morning,” he added. “We want to encourage the public to come out and meet these guys. They’re really friendly folks and willing to share a lot of ideas on smoking.
“We’ll have food vendors set up, and Stone Bridge Park is a great place for the event,” Fraz continued. “A lot of teams come in from out of town, and one of our big goals is to draw people into Fayetteville.”
The event is free to the public, and judging begins at 2 p.m. Saturday.
