Dr. James Armitage (right), commander of the John R. Massey Camp No. 152, Sons of Confederate Veterans, presented Past Commander medals to (from left) Mack Pickett and James Shelton. The SCV was chartered in 1896, as the successor to the United Confederate Veterans. It is open for membership to all males over the age of 12 who had an ancestor who served honorably in the Confederate Army, Navy or Civil Service. The camp meets every second Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fayetteville Municipal Building auditorium. Meetings are open to the public, and anyone interested in Southern history is welcome to attend.
