SAAW set to open spay/neuter clinic

Posted on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 4:40 pm

The Southern Alliance for Animal Welfare, or SAAW, is planning to open a spay/neuter clinic in early 2013.

This clinic will open because of some very generous donors.

The clinic will be located at 2703 Huntsville Highway, close to Firehouse Bar-B-Q.

SAAW members and other volunteers are currently painting and making repairs to the house. SAAW is still providing pet food to those in need.

Each month SAAW has two transports to the spay/neuter clinic in Shelbyville.

Hue and Karen Counts were the owners of the building on the square that was used as the SAAW shop. The building was sold to Jennie Roles-Walters for an art studio. The sale of the building on the square became the seed money for the spay/neuter clinic.

The next SAAW fundraiser will be the roadblock on Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. until noon.

Volunteers are needed and can come to the Walgreen’s parking lot at 8:30 a.m. to work the roadblock.
